Norton VPN – Fast & Secure is an app that provides a Virtual Private Network (VPN) service to help users enhance their online privacy and security, particularly when connected to Wi-Fi networks. It allows individuals to change their virtual location to access content more privately around the world and includes features to automatically secure connections. The app aims to deliver private, fast internet access through its network of global servers.
Maintaining Online Privacy
Norton VPN Standard prioritizes user privacy through several integrated features. The app operates under a No-log policy, which is supported by a third-party audit, affirming that it does not track, log, or save browsing activities. To further safeguard anonymity, the app employs Bank-grade Encryption for all online traffic. Additionally, the IP Rotation feature automatically changes your IP address at regular intervals, which helps prevent persistent tracking and reduces the incidence of targeted advertisements. For situations where the VPN connection might unexpectedly drop, the Kill Switch feature automatically disconnects your device from the internet, helping to ensure your data remains private.
Flexible Connection and Content Access
Users can customize their connection experience with Norton VPN. The Change Location feature allows for seamless connection to a preferred country and city, which can help ensure more secure and private online activities without interruption. This capability also facilitates Content Access, enabling users to privately view their favorite shows, videos, and websites from various global regions. The app utilizes Global Servers that are designed for high-speed performance and dynamically scale with the number of users. Users can either manually select a virtual location or allow the app to auto-select the best region. For more granular control, Split Tunnelling allows users to encrypt, secure, and anonymize specific traffic while excluding other applications. This can be particularly useful for activities like streaming, where some platforms might block VPNs, or for gaming, where it can help avoid bandwidth throttling.
Automated Security and Convenience
The app incorporates features designed for both proactive security and ease of use. Auto Connect automatically activates the VPN whenever you connect to a public network, helping to keep your data safer and more private without manual intervention. Furthermore, the Compromised Network Detection feature offers the option to automatically secure your connection if the app identifies suspicious Wi-Fi networks. To help reduce the number of targeted ads encountered online, the Tracker Blocker works to block many advertisers’ tracking technologies. For quick management of your VPN connection, a mobile widget is available, allowing control directly from your home screen without needing to open the app itself.
